Garden Club donates live wreaths to beautify local historic areas

The Beautification Committee of the Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews assembled and donated 11 live wreaths for Gloucester Court House’s historic buildings, and hung 225 linear feet of fresh pine roping.
Robert Kelly, Museums Coordinator for Gloucester County, provided a space for the club to create the wreaths. All fresh live greenery was used, with “period-appropriate” decorations such as berries, nuts, feathers and oyster shells.
Additionally, the Garden Club prepared five fresh wreaths for the historic district in Mathews County.
“Our garden club members look forward to the holiday decorating of the historic districts of Gloucester and Mathews every year,” said holiday co-chairs Beth Tripp and Eleanor Gardner. Brent Heath of Brent & Becky’s Bulbs helped out, providing some of the natural materials and greenery gathered from his garden.
