Garden Club donates 200+ coats to Gloucester, Mathews counties

Members of the Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews collected more than 200 new and gently-used coats, jackets, hats, gloves and scarves for men, women and children for Gloucester and Mathews counties.
The club’s efforts were initiated and led by board member and past president Lynn Hornsby, with the intention of specifically donating the items to our local community. “Helping the community at this time of the year is particularly gratifying,” said Hornsby, “and we hope to continue our club coat drive in future years.” She acknowledged Brownie Bartley and members of Singleton United Methodist Church who contributed more than six bags of garments.
On Dec. 18, Hornsby and current club president Lynne Manning dropped off the items to Gloucester County Department of Social Services and to Hands Across Mathews in Mathews.
