G-J newsroom welcomes Ruby Williams, bids farewell to Tyler Bass

The Gazette-Journal newsroom is undergoing staffing changes as reporter Tyler Bass exits and Ruby Williams takes over his reporting duties.
Bass started at the paper in 2019, where he was hired as a reporter. In his role, Bass reported on the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors, Gloucester High School field hockey and football teams and local businesses.
Throughout his time at the Gazette, Bass wore many hats. He built websites for customers, assisted in managing the Gazette-Journal website and helped with technical support. In 2021, Bass was promoted to social media coordinator at the paper.
“I will miss my Gazette family I have grown fond of, but I’m excited for my new opportunity,” said Bass.
In his next career step, Bass will be serving as the social media coordinator for the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce.
Bass is a 2013 graduate of Mathews High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Regent University.
