Madelyn Judson of Yorktown, center, daughter of Gwynn’s Island resident James Judson, fourth from left, and Yorktown resident Karen Haynes, was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship awarded recently by the Gwynn’s Island Civic League Foundation. A York High School senior, Judson has assisted the high school football athletic trainer, and she worked with autistic children while in middle school. In the community, she has worked at Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill and currently is a food server at a nursing home. She will attend Bridgewater University, where she will major in Health and Exercise Science. Her great-great-grandfather Frank Judson was one of the founding members of the G.I. Civic League in 1948.
