Mathews High School senior Emily Thiel-Goin, second from left, was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship awarded by the Gwynn’s Island Civic League Foundation. She is an honors student active in the MHS Beta and History clubs, serves as a member of the Bay School board, and is in her third year as an instructor at Mathews Dance Studio. She will attend the University of South Alabama in the fall, majoring in Marine Science. Her parents are Heather and Carl Thiel-Goin of Gwynn’s Island.
