Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church is distributing copies of its free Advent book, “Christmas Joy” The book has become a tradition at the church, which publishes and gives away 2,000 copies in the community.
The book contains 25 daily stories with scriptural references and prayers dating from Dec. 1 through Christmas, written by members of the congregation. The cover is by church member and local artist Gib Pulley.
“This has been a very difficult year for all of us, a year of uncertainty, isolation, and very little good news,” Pastor Ed Jordan said. “Don’t you feel like it is time to break out and enjoy some joy?”
The books are available at the church’s drive-in worship services, held at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Gwynn’s Island Park, and by calling 804-725-2384. The park is across the road from the church, located at 2011 Old Ferry Road on the island.
