Once again the Central Village Homemakers are sharing their recipes of good cooking for all readers to enjoy. It’s a gift from them to you for Christmas and the new year, something that will start the holiday and 2011 off on the right flavor and continue for years to come.
The Homemaker Club organizations, about which we read and hear so often of their contributions, service, talents and generosity given to their communities, began with Ella Graham Agnew. She was a VPI home demonstration agent from 1914-1918, and served as the nation’s first female home demonstration agent. She organized "Tomato Clubs" which reached more than 320,000 rural girls and women. This action evolved into today’s 4-H and Extension Homemakers organizations.
Extension Homemaker Clubs began in this area in 1974 and they are still active today, not as Extension Homemakers, just Homemakers, the Extension has been eliminated. They continue to make a pleasant home for us all in...
