What started off as a hobby during Catesby Jones’s time as an undergraduate at the University of Virginia back in the mid-1980s has blossomed into a Gloucester-based business that sells to more than a thousand retailers with multiple stores across the U.S.
Crispies Company Inc., known to most as Peace Frogs, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025.
“It kind of crept up on me,” Jones said, speaking of the anniversary. “I kind of forgot it was the 40th year. We just keep on going. I was reminded of it and it really just doesn’t feel like it (has been 40 years).”
The Gloucester native was raised in the Coke area of Gloucester. During his childhood years, Jones went to an all-boys school outside Charlottesville in Orange called the Woodberry Forest School. After graduating from there in 1983, he decided to attend UVA, from which he graduated in 1987 with a degree in International Relations with minors in Economics and History.
