Friends of Machicomoco State Park recently donated $500 to provide assistance to park rangers who have been affected by Hurricane Helene.
The funds, managed through the Virginia State Park Employee Benevolent Association, will be directed to Virginia State Park employees who request assistance to help them recover from damage caused by Helene.
“We very much appreciate the generous donation from Friends of Machicomoco,” stated Kevin Bowman, Chair of the Virginia State Park Employee Benevolent Association.
Several Virginia State Parks were severely impacted by Helene which swept through the region in late September. Rangers from across the state have been mobilized in the cleanup efforts.
Founded in 2022, Friends of Machicomoco State Park is a member-led nonprofit organization which helps to support the park’s mission.
