The Friends of the Dragon Run will hold its first member event of 2025 on Sunday, Jan. 26, with a hike at FODR’s Big Island Complex, beginning at 1 p.m.
Participants will begin at the trail head in Shacklefords and explore three private trails, 442 acres of protected wilderness, bald cypress trees, and great views of Dragon Run and the Dragon Run swamp.
The hike will start and end at the parking area and last for about two hours. To attend, register at www.dragonrun.org. This is a FODR member event. Non-members may attend if accompanied by a member. You can also join FODR at www.dragonrun.org/membership.html. Those taking part in the hike are asked to let the organizers know if anyone in their party is under age 12 so they can plan their activities.
A couple of days before the hike, participants will receive an email from the Hike Master with directions and updates. Light refreshments will be offered after finishing the hike. There are no bathroom facilities on site. Participants are a...
