Friends of Community Cats to meet next week

If you are interested in learning more about, or helping with, community cats, the Friends of Gloucester County’s Community Cats invite you to come learn about best practices for trapping cats for trap, neuter and release from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the lobby of the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, 6620 Jackson Lane, Gloucester.
The Friends of Gloucester County’s Community Cats is a group of local residents concerned with the humane treatment of the area’s stray and feral cat population. Some of its members are colony caretakers, or belong to teams who feed and monitor the health of several small colony groups, or are people, along with their neighbors, who care for abandoned feline strays living in their neighborhoods.
“Some of us love animals and are just willing to help,” volunteer Deborah Butler said. The group began meeting the summer of 2023 and has had several public meetings to create awareness about community cats.
