Virginia Cooperative Extension is offering access to the CDC’s Diabetes Prevention Program, a free, yearlong virtual program via Zoom.
Participants will get a full year of support and learn how to eat healthy, add physical activity to your routine, manage stress, stay motivated and solve problems that can get in the way of your goal.
The program will be held on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m., starting June 25 (information session on June 11), weekly for the first two months, bi-weekly for the following four months, then monthly after that. To qualify, participants must:
Be at least 18 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher (23 or higher if Asian American), not previously diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and not be pregnant.
Additionally, participants will need to meet additional requirements based on medical testing.
If you are interested in participating, call the office at 804-693-2602 or email Glenn Sturm at gjsturm@vt.edu.
