Free boating safety course to be held at MVRS building

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct a free boating safety education classroom course from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad Community Room at Hudgins.
Students who pass this course will receive their good-for-a-lifetime Virginia Safe Boating Education Certificate. This certificate is required to be in the possession of all operators of personal watercraft and motorboats of 10 horsepower and greater.
The class will cover such topics as operating your boat and personal watercraft safely, the legal requirements of boating, and what to do in an emergency.
