Francis Leroy “Lee” Smith Jr. of Bena, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester. Lee was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1982 and the owner of Plainview Painting. Lee loved saltwater fishing, hunting, and passing time with friends listening to Grateful Dead music. He is survived by his parents, Francis Smith Sr. and stepmom Debbie Smith, Barbara Gibbs and stepfather Robert Gibbs; siblings, William “Bill” Smith and wife Brandi, Mary Ann Batchelor and husband John, Kimberly Hall and husband Jeff, Nancy Smith, and Joy Smith; nephews, Cole Batchelor, Hunter Smith, Tristan Firman; nieces, Whitney Brooks and husband Demetrius, Chelsea Batista and husband Cesar, Peyton Firman; great-nephews, Aven and Kye Brooks. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The inurnment will be private.
