Frances Pierce Ward, 92, of Cobbs Creek, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Commonwealth Senior Living at Gloucester House, Gloucester, Virginia. Frances was born on August 24, 1931 to Rubin and Eva Pierce. She attended Central United Methodist Church, Mathews. After graduation from Mathews High School, Frances moved to Norfolk, completed cosmetology classes and worked at her sister, Mabel’s shop. In March of 1952, Frances Pierce and Jack Ward were married in the Central United Methodist Church Parsonage. Frances worked as a homemaker and traveled aboard ships around the world with Jack. Her volunteer work included chairing the American Red Cross Bloodmobile and delivering Meals on Wheels. She baked cakes and arranged cheerful flowers for many local organizations, families and friends.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Deborah Ward McKeon; grandsons, John Pierce McKeon and William Keating McKeon (Kristen); step-great-granddaughters, Ruby and Isabella; great-grandson, Malcolm; a brother, John Robert Pierce; a sister-in-law, Mildred Smith Stillman, and many nieces and nephews. Frances lived in service to her family, church and her community.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, with burial to follow in Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Virginia. A reception will follow the burial at Central United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church, P.O.
