Four Gloucester High School track athletes had Peninsula District Meet qualifying performances at the Christopher Newport University Showcase meet last weekend. Fifty-five teams and 1,200 athletes participated in the event.
Gloucester’s Jazmine Banks performed exceptionally well, with a state meet qualifying shot put throw of 39’7". The toss also made her a Milestat Elite. She placed third in the state last year in the indoor track shot put. Evan Wagner earned a district meet bid by clearing 4’8" for eighth place in the high jump.
On the track, Kevin Speray had a district meet qualifying time of 4:53 in the 1600 meter race and Logan Pitchford qualified with a time of 2:50 in the 1000 meter run.
