Former NAACP head to speak in Gloucester

Former NAACP President and CEO and current Sierra Club Executive Director Ben Jealous will give a free lecture/book signing at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, in Gloucester’s colonial courthouse. Jealous will speak on his new book, “Never Forget Our People Were Always Free: A Parable of American History.”
The book, which mentions historical events from Gloucester’s history, is a series of parables inspired by Jealous’s own life lessons, family and civil rights work. The book was released in January and is available online and at major retailers.
The program is made possible thanks to the partnership between the Gloucester Museum of History, Friends of the Museum and the Gloucester Historical Society. Doors for this event will open 30 minutes prior to its start and those wanting to attend are encouraged to arrive early.
