A four-stop tour of forestry sites in King and Queen and Essex counties will be held from 1-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
The topic is using active woodland management practices to create, improve, and maintain wildlife habitat.
The tour is sponsored by Quail Forever, Three Rivers Forestry, Rappahannock Chapter of the Society of American Foresters, Virginia Tree Farm Foundation, Virginia Department of Forestry, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, and Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Stops will include two certified Tree Farms. A release said foresters and wildlife biologists will talk about managing for wildlife in young forests, pine savannahs, and longleaf pine. Specific information on quail management and an update on the northern long-eared bat will be provided.
