Census takers for the Audubon Society Bird Count held Sunday in Mathews spread out across the county, looking and listening on land and sea for birds of all sizes and habitats. Forty birders took part in Sunday’s count, cataloging 103 species and counting more than 10,000 birds, according to compiler Mark Sopko.
