The food pantries of Gloucester County will once again be replenished through the generosity and love of people like Charles and Mari Ann Banks. For the eighth year in a row they opened their doors at White Hall in Zanoni and made it the home of “Food from the Heart,” Mari Ann’s creation.
Held for one day only this year, in late June, the ticket-holders, who also brought a bag of groceries as part of their admission, had the pleasure of meeting six chefs who unfolded their talents before their eyes.
Local chefs demonstrated their talents. Chef Eric Garcia of The Inn at Warner Hall, made a tasty unusual fresh salad; Chef Stephen Perkins Sr., with Waypoint Seafood and Grill, treated the guests to his corn/crab soup; Mark Letchworth of Mathews Yacht Club shared his talents for using chocolate as a dessert; Keyvan Behnam of Lulu Birds Kitchen created a wonderful dish of shrimp.
