Flu season is here; immunization clinics to be held

Flu season is here, and vaccination is the best way to protect against the virus, says the December newsletter from the Virginia Department of Health’s Three Rivers Health District.
Dec. 2-6 is National Influenza Vaccination Week, said the newsletter, which warns that flu is a contagious respiratory illness that infects the nose, throat and lungs.
Young children and adults who are aged 65 or older, pregnant, and or have an underlying condition such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease are considered at high risk for contracting and becoming severely ill from the influenza virus, said the release.

Flu vaccinations may be scheduled at the health department, a primary care physician, or a pharmacy.
