FLOYD T. WARD

Floyd T. Ward, age 95, of Deltaville, Virginia, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 17, 2023. A native of Middlesex County, Floyd graduated from Syringa High School; was a lifetime member of Philippi Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon; was a member for over 60 years of Donovan Masonic Lodge No. 75 in Deltaville, and was self-employed as a Chesapeake Bay Buyboat and Tugboat Captain. Floyd and his beloved wife, Jean, had been married for 75 years and without question they shared an amazing relationship and a very special love.

Floyd was predeceased by his parents, John Thomas and Iva Deagle Ward; brothers, John Melvin Ward Sr. and Milton Parker Ward; sons, Floyd Gene Ward, Thomas Edward Ward, Kenneth Wayne Ward, and Gary Howard Ward. Survivors include his wife, Jean Sybil Garrett Ward; daughters-in-law, Helen Ward, Carole Ward, and Regina Ward; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Floyd’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Philippi Christian Church, 17276 General Puller Highway, Deltaville, Va. 23043. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 o’clock, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Philippi Memorial Gardens, Deltaville. A reception will follow the burial service at Philippi Christian Church.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel in Saluda, Va., is assisting the Ward family with arrangements.
