Floyd Hawthorne Blacken Sr., 69, of Cardinal, entered into eternal rest on Feb. 17, 2015 at Charles Regional Medical Center, LaPlata, Md.
He was the beloved husband of Florence C. Blacken; father of sons, Floyd Jr. and George Allen (wife Melissa). He is also survived by his mother, Florence A. Blacken; sisters, Muriel, Emma, Linda (husband George); brother, Roderick; three grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Floyd was born and raised in Mathews County, Va. He graduated from Norfolk State University. He taught in Richmond and Gloucester County Public Schools.
The funeral will be at 12 noon, Monday, Feb. 23 at Holy Temple Cross Ministries Inc., Waldorf, Md. Viewing will be from 11 a.m.-12 noon.
