Flounder tournament nets $13,000 for B&G Club

Over $20,000 was raised Saturday during the 12th annual Flounder Fishing Tournament with proceeds going directly to the Gloucester Boys & Girls Club.
According to tournament spokesperson Brenda Ashe, the tournament netted approximately $13,000 to go directly back to the club.
“This is now the Gloucester club’s number one annual fundraiser,” Ashe said. “We had over 60 entries this year.”
She reported that the weather Saturday was beautiful and a couple hundred people attended the weigh-in at Crown Pointe Marina, Hayes.
Fishing was also good, Ashe said, with the largest three-fish stringer of 22.30 pounds caught by Derrick Hall and the crew sponsored by Phillips Energy, Inc.
Other top winners included Zach Hoffman, 2nd place, 19.30 pounds, and Billy Kellum (Hogge’s Stump Grinding), 3rd place, 16.95 pounds.
Ashe said the total cash purse this year was $7,850 on top of other prizes totaling over $1,000.
