Flounder tops the fishing report this week, as anglers have been able to land the fish just about anywhere in local waters. "Flounders are scattered just about everywhere," said Chuck Ashe of York River Feed & Fishing Supplies, Gloucester Point. "It isn’t hard to pick up a flounder."
Jerry Thrash of Queens Creek Outfitters at Cobbs Creek, reported that flounder cooperated for anglers fishing in the Mathews Boys & Girls Club two-day flounder fishing tournament. He said 20 boats fished Saturday and 12 Sunday.
In other fishing news, Ashe reported that croakers are biting around the Amoco dock in the York River, while cobias can be found near York Spit.
Thrash said in the bay, croakers are biting near Buoy 42 and to Buoy 40A, while spot averaging a half-pound are being caught off Gwynn’s Island, Butlers Hole and the Spike.
