What would you do if you were out on a boat and your skipper became suddenly incapacitated or worse yet, fell overboard?
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 66, Mathews, is teaming up with the Mathews Outdoor Club to offer a course to address these situations. “Suddenly in Command” is a course designed for those who enjoy boating but are not often at the helm. How can you get help, determine and report your position?
What are the recommended responses to the most common emergencies? “Suddenly in Command” will cover essential boating information about what to do in these situations.
The class will be presented from 9 a.m. to around 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Training facility in Deltaville, located on Ball Park Road. The cost is $20 per student for early registration by March 31, and $25 afterwards. Online registration is through the Mathews Outdoor Club website (mocva.net) under the “Courses” link.
