On Wednesday, June 14 (Flag Day and also the U.S. Army’s 248th birthday), members of American Legion Post 83, Mathews, disposed of a total of 238 worn and tattered flags, banners and burgees that had been placed in the “Old Flag” disposal box at the post headquarters or dropped off at the Mathews post office for proper disposal.
