Riverside Wellness and Fitness Center-Middle Peninsula, located in Gloucester, recently added a new exercise floor and more than a dozen pieces of new exercise equipment.
Fitness coordinator Jonathan Smith said that the improvements are intended to meet the demands of members and the community. The new equipment will showcase the center’s commitment to helping local residents improve their lifelong health.
Also, having additional equipment will eliminate wait times so that members can keep moving, Smith said.
A key component of the improvement is the new exercise floor. Manufactured by Boen Sports of Norway, which Smith said is one of the leading suppliers of exercise floors in the world, the floor features improved absorbency, with elasticized rubber strips which ease strain on joints and ligaments and reduce injury, especially for senior citizens.
