Saluda resident Joey Fitchett has been named head baseball coach for the Christchurch School Seahorses, according to CCS Director of Athletics and Co-Curriculars John Dehm.
Fitchett is president of 241 Baseball League, which includes 10 teams from Middlesex, Lancaster, Gloucester, Northumberland, Williamsburg, King William, Mathews and Rappahannock counties. He is a baseball instructor for Backwoods Baseball in Saluda, a Little League umpire for Little League International, and has been a Little League manager.
Fitchett was JV baseball coach for Middlesex High School, AD for Post 241 American Legion Baseball District 3, and he managed tournaments, events, facility and volunteers for Young Gunz Travel Baseball.
Fitchett will be assisted by coach Aaron Mathews. Mathews, who resides in Gloucester, is a graduate of Oregon State University, where he played outfielder for the Beavers. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays organization in the 19th round of the 2004 MLB draft.
