Fishing at Beaverdam Park

Anglers at Beaverdam Park, Gloucester, have reeled in a number of Yellow Perch, White Perch, Black Crappie, Bluegill and Largemouth Bass, most of which were caught from boats using artificial bait, according to park ranger Elizabeth Keefer.
One recent report from anglers on the new floating dock includes Shellcracker, Yellow Perch, Bullhead and Bluegill being caught on red worms. “One of our regular fishermen caught White Perch, Bluegill and Bass from his boat using spinners and plastic lures,” Keefer said.
Friday’s Park After Dark included a few people fishing from boats. One angler caught a 5-pound, 2-ounce Largemouth Bass, the other angler in that boat caught a 6-inch Black Crappie using lures.
The current surface temperature at Beaverdam is 76 degrees.
The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the remainder of September. The park has live minnows and nightcrawlers available for sale, as well as watercraft rentals. For more information, call the Ranger Station at 804-693-2...
