Fire, Smoke and Muskets

The sounds of cannon fire and colonial music filled the air around the Gloucester Museum of History on Saturday as it held “Fire, Smoke and Muskets: Gloucester 1781.” Reenactors from the 7th Virginia Regiment turned out to educate guests on Gloucester County’s Revolutionary War history. Mark Schneider of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is shown dressed as member of Lauzun’s Legion. Lauzun’s Legion was the French regiment that fought with the colonial militia in Gloucester County during the Battle of the Hook which saw the allied forces defeat the British forces led by Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton on Oct. 3, 1781.
