Financial help available for septic pump outs

Financial assistance is available to help Middle Peninsula residents in low- to moderate-income households with the expense of required septic system pump outs.
Limited grant funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis through the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission, according to executive director Lewie Lawrence.
Approved participants will receive a voucher that covers up to $300 of the cost to uncover and pump out a septic tank. A list of participating septic haulers will be provided with the voucher. Funding for this program comes from the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency under an assistance agreement with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
Eligible properties must be located in a designated Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area in a Middle Peninsula locality (Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, King and Queen, Essex and King William counties, and the Towns of Tappahannock, Urbanna, and West Point) and subject to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act’...
