Field hockey team dominates all: GHS girls outscore opponents 104-0 to improve to 12-0

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team began its first action in Conference 10 last week and notched a 7-0 win over visiting Warwick. The Dukes also beat Menchville 6-0 at GHS on Tuesday for a 2-0 conference record.

The Gloucester girls are having an outstanding season, due largely to great teamwork and a remarkably strong defense. They have now scored 104 goals while allowing none, and have a 12-0 overall record.

Last Thursday, Hannah Wilburn scored twice against Warwick and goals came from Simone Gayle, Cassidy Goodwin, Brittany Romero, Ashley Bohi and Tori Harwood. Kayla Sadler provided three assists, Goodwin had two and assists were contributed by Molly Vaughan and Kenzie Hodge.

 

"We did a really good job of controlling midfield, and when we control the midfield we control the tempo and the game," said Coach Mike Miller. "We distributed the ball well and there was some nice passing. We really played as a team."
