Fiber artist to give talk, demo at Arts on Main

Fiber artist Sara McCourt will give a talk and provide a demonstration of her work on Saturday, April 19, at Arts on Main in Gloucester. The demonstration will begin around 1 p.m., followed by the talk at 4 o’clock. Both are free and open to the public.
An avid knitter, McCourt wondered about the sourcing and processing of her mail-order wools. This led her to complete a Master’s Spinning Certification program at Olds College in Alberta, Canada. She then began creating handspun yarns to use in weaving, which led to the use of natural and synthetic dyes in her work. Now, McCourt spins and dyes her own yarn, fibers, and fabrics for use in her various fiber projects.
McCourt, a member of the Williamsburg Spinners and Weavers Guild, is one of the exhibiting artists in Arts on Main’s April show. She is also a teacher at Arts on Main and will be teaching a yarn dyeing class on Saturday, April 26.
