Virginia State Police were investigating a Tuesday morning airplane crash in Middlesex County that resulted in a fatality, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya. At approximately 9:35 a.m., police were called to investigate the crash at the 1270 block of North End Road, in Deltaville. Preliminary investigations reveal that a fixed-wing aircraft (unknown type at press time) struck a garage type structure, causing it to become completely engulfed in flames. As of Tuesday morning, there was one confirmed fatality. Troopers were on scene as of noon Tuesday investigating the incident. The name of the person killed in the accident was not released at press time.
