A two-vehicle accident on Sunday night on Route 14 in Gloucester resulted in a fatality, according to the Virginia State Police.
The accident occurred at 10:43 p.m. on Route 14 just east of Crab Thicket Road. The driver of a 2002 Hyundai Elantra was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Route 14 when it collided head on with a 2009 Chevrolet Impala.
The adult female driver of the Hyundai and a rear seat child were transported to Riverside Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The front seat male passenger, Robert Lindsay-Cruz, 50, of Williamsburg, was taken to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered serious injuries and was transported to Norfolk Sentara Hospital. Preliminary investigations reveal that neither speed nor alcohol was a contributing factor. Charges are pending.
