Farmer’s Daughter opens Hayes branch

The Farmer’s Daughter, a store featuring plants, locally-grown produce and other items, recently opened a branch market at Hayes, located off Route 17 across from Land and Coates.

Jeff Merrill manages the new store, which once housed a credit union. The branch opened in late March and will be open at least through Christmas, he said, and possibly longer.

The Farmer’s Daughter had a seasonal branch last fall at Tidemill Center, Gloucester Point. Merrill said that the branch concept makes it easier for regular customers from lower Gloucester who used to travel to the main Farmer’s Daughter site on Route 17, Wood Cross Roads.

Merrill said the new location includes both a retail store and an assortment of hanging plants and shrubs on display in the nearby grassy area. The fresh produce comes from an assortment of sources, Merrill said, with The Farmer’s Daughter staff growing some of the produce during the warmer weather months.
