Farm use placards mandatory July 1

Farm use vehicles must be compliant before Monday with a law requiring unregistered farm use vehicles to display a state Department of Motor Vehicles issued permanent farm use placard.
Placards cost $15 and are good for the lifetime of the vehicle, according to a release from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
The change was passed by lawmakers in 2023 with a one-year grace period for vehicle owners. Unofficial farm use tags will no longer be acceptable as of July 1, VDACS said.
Official placards must be displayed on the front and back of all vehicles at all times.
