Farm Bureau awards $7K in scholarships

The Gloucester-Mathews Farm Bureau Board of Directors recently awarded $7,000 in scholarships to seven local students. Presentations were made on Aug. 6 at Petsworth Baptist Church.
The $1,000 recipients were Sam Cook, a junior studying computer science at the University of Lynchburg; Joice Small, a junior studying civil engineering at the University of Virginia; Joshua Mayer, a junior studying mathematics at the College of William & Mary; Cole Wheeler, a junior studying aeronautics/piloting at Liberty University; Chelsea Armistead, a sophomore studying criminal justice to become a paralegal at Rappahannock Community College; Matthew Shackelford, a junior studying biochemistry at Christopher Newport University; and Sarah Moughon, a freshman studying finance and environmental and sustainability at Elon University.
