Nineteen new members were inducted into the Mathews High School Hall of Fame during a ceremony Friday evening in the school’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium, joining the 72 that had already been named since the Hall of Fame was founded in 2019.
This year’s class was a family affair, notably with two sets of siblings among the inductees—sisters Brooke Moughon Paul and Mackenzie Moughon and brothers Carl “C.J.” Kelly and Cody Kelly—as well as the father/daughter duo of Nelson Morris and Megan Morris Thacker, and several with a parent who had already achieved the honor.
Brooke Moughon Paul (MHS Class of 2009) and Mackenzie Moughon (Class of 2013) were both recognized for their contributions primarily to the school’s successful volleyball program. Their mother, MHS volleyball coach Pat Moughon (who is likely not yet a Hall of Fame member herself only because she is still an active MHS coach), introduced them both.
