The Fairfield Foundation is in the process of raising a required $200,000 in matching funds for a $600,000 state grant awarded earlier this year. The grant is intended to support capital improvements at both Fairfield Archaeology Park and the Rosewell Ruin and Visitor Center.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced in January that the Fairfield Foundation was a recipient of the $600,000 grant from the Virginia 250 Preservation Fund. In 2024, Youngkin and the General Assembly established the VA 250 Preservation Fund in the state’s biennial budget to support capital improvement projects at historic sites and museums that anticipate a significant increase in tourist visitation in 2026, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The $200,000 in matching funds must be raised by June 2026.
