Fairfield Foundation, a local nonprofit, opens Timberneck house to free walk-in tours for Timberneck Tuesdays.
The historic 1793 farmhouse is in the midst of restoration by volunteers and has been opened to the public for free walk-in tours 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday. These tours discuss the history of the 18th century families buried on site, as well as the 19th-20th century history of the Catlett family, who built the Timberneck house, which is located at Machicomoco State Park in Hayes.
More information on openings, closing, and the restoration of the Timberneck farmhouse can be found on fairfieldfoundation.org and the Fairfield Foundation’s Facebook page.
