Last month, York River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons sponsored its 25th anniversary Book Author Luncheon at Providence Baptist Church, Ordinary.
As always the affair was a gala event. The gourmet luncheon was surpassed only by the warm friendship among the more than 250 men and women attending. It was a full house.
Each of the 30-plus tables was adorned in linens and centered with containers holding fresh spring flowers, making a very pleasant welcome. But it was the well-known pie table, staged at the entrance to the room, that received the most immediate attention. Everyone rushed to select their favorites thus decreasing special choices for late-comers. Even so, no matter what choice, it was delicious and all that a pie should be.
