Eubanks suit referred to settlement conference

A lawsuit filed against former Mathews County wetlands administrator Sue Thomas, former county administrator Mindy Moran, and former planning and zoning director John Shaw has been referred to a settlement conference.
According to court papers signed by Judge Jeffrey W. Shaw, the suit filed by Mark and Candy Eubank in 2019 and partially reinstated by the Virginia Supreme Court in August 2021 will go into a settlement conference on April 12, 2023 before William C. Andrews III, retired judge of the Eighth Judicial Circuit, in order to “assist the judges of the Ninth Judicial Circuit in the performance of their duties.”
Pre-conference briefs are due five days before the April 12 date. The case has been set for return to the court for a jury trial on Nov. 1.
