Representatives of American Legion Post 83 presented a certificate and check to Thomas Hunter Middle School seventh grader Keegan Walls, the winner of this year’s essay contest. His essay was selected from all the students who participate in the English and Civics departments. All students wrote a one-page essay beginning with “I like living in America because … “ Walls received a $50 check; the Civics Department also received $50 and the teacher $25. His essay has been sent to the American Legion District for entry into the district contest.
