Entries sought for Old-Fashioned Pound Cake Contest

Bakers are invited to check their recipes for possible entries into the Old-Fashioned Pound Cake Contest to be held Saturday, May 6, as part of Mathews May Faire.
The contest is open to the public at no charge, and prizes will be awarded, a release said.
Cake entries are to be delivered to the County Administration Building between 9-10 a.m. Entries donated will be sold afterwards at the May Faire registration booth. For additional information, call 804-725-3983.
May Faire, a spring festival produced by the Mathews Historical Museum, will honor the county’s teachers, “Celebrating Teachers, Schools & Community: Over a Hundred Years of Public Education in Mathews County.” 
In other attractions, a children’s corner will be featured, along with a May Pole dance, arts and crafts booths and a large photo display of teachers, administrators and schools at the museum at 200 Main Street.
