The eighth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser to benefit Hands Across Mathews will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews.
Bowls, handmade by the Clay by the Bay Ceramics Guild, will be displayed and sold for $15 each in the Bay School classroom.
Soup will be available in to-go containers for visitors to take home, along with packaged bread and cookies. The soup will be set up outside, weather permitting.
Unlike previous years, tickets will not be sold in advance, according to a release. The empty bowls and soups in containers will be set out in two batches, at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The bowls will be empty of soup this year, said the release, “but what a poignant reminder that there are those around us that, without the aid of Hands Across Mathews, will surely have empty bowls in their future.”
