Emma E. (Betty) Brown, 82, of Gwynn’s Island, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members over the years. She was a member of Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church and loved by all who knew her.

Betty was born to the late Cecil A. and Minnie Mae Stuart on April 22, 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Brown, and her brother, Garland Stuart.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Lee Brown and wife Dianne; one daughter, Brenda B. Lewis and husband Wayne; four granddaughters, Sheila B. Farmer (Robert), Carol B. Dehoux (Jerry), Sheryl L. Miller (John) and Darlene L. Jackson (Willie); great-grandchildren, Erika and Lindsey Brown, Zach Dehoux, Rachel Farmer Dehoux (Jonathan), Joanie Farmer, Amanda Miller, Amber and Alyson Jackson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, in the funeral home chapel with a graveside service in Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.
