An emergency repair to the Route 17 northbound bridge over Dragon Run at the Gloucester County and Middlesex County line was completed last Thursday, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The bridge is funded for replacement, with an estimated construction start in January 2026, with completion in January 2028. In the early-morning hours of Friday, July 26, the bridge rail was damaged in a crash. While emergency repairs were underway, northbound Route 17 traffic was limited to one lane.
