Elwood Eugene Dunston of Cobbs Creek, died at Heron Cove, Gloucester, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 96. He was the son of the late Beverly Eugene and Vernetta Mae Deal Dunston. Elwood retired from DuPont in Richmond, Virginia, after 36 years of employment. He was a hard-working man who loved his family and had a strong work ethic. Fishing, rabbit hunting, and boats were a few of his favorite pastimes. However, his taxi service, which took his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to school, sports practices, or anywhere else they needed, was the most essential joy. Elwood and his wife of over 70 years, who preceded him in death, devoted their lives to raising and loving their three children, Thomas Eugene Dunston (Betty Jane), Nelson Dale Dunston, and Paula Dunston Cottee (Randy). Mr. Dunston is survived by five grandchildren, Michael Eugene Dunston (Adrianne), Melissa Cottee Reagan (Sean), Laura Gayle Cottee Shaw (James), Evan Dale Dunston (Briana), Austin John Thomas Cottee (Kaylee); five great-grandchildren, Easton Chris Bowen, Fisher Eugene Dunston, Cameron Sofia Reagan, Parker Hayes Cottee, Hughlett Dunston, and one on the way.
